Switchboard installation, upgrade and energised testing

New boards, upgrades and the testing that has to happen when a board is energised — including old boards that may contain asbestos.

Ships as two files: Model WHS (NSW, QLD, SA, TAS, ACT, NT, WA) and a Victorian OHS version. Model (k), and (d) if asbestos is likely. Victorian 7 and 16. Not compliant until you make it specific to the site with the workers doing the work.

What the task table covers

  • Inspect the existing board before touching it. Asbestos in older boards and backing, damaged live parts
  • Install or upgrade the board dead. Stored energy, incoming mains still live, sharp edges
  • Test and energise. Wrong polarity, loose terminations, arc on switch-on
  • Hand the board over. Next trade treats a half-finished board as safe

Asbestos awareness sits on this SWMS. It is not a removal licence.
